Anticipating Easter

The Sunday meting of the church “Philadelphia” on 28 March was dedicated to the anticipation of the Passion week and Easter.

Pastor Oleg Malykh told about the Hebrew Passover celebration rules. They prepared for it in a particular way. Thus, the sacrificed lamb was an image of people’s deliverance and reminded about the exodus from Egypt. In the times of the New Testament our Passover lamb is Jesus Christ: “Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast — as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed” (1 Corinthians 5:7).

Senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov also touched upon the Holy week. He reminded about the beginning of that week for Jesus Christ – the triumphant entering into Jerusalem. People cried “Hosanna”, praised God and spread their garments and tree brunches in the way before the Son of God entering the city on a colt back.  In several days everything changed. We know that it was difficult for Him to go through it and in the garden of Gethsemane  He prayed to the Father to take away this cup but nevertheless obeyed God’s will. Jesus found the power in the prayer. Man has to struggle with the world all the time, his own self and satan. The weapons that can help us in this one can find in the Ephesians 6:10-17.

During the Passion week senior pastor suggested praying with fasting, thanking God and asking for a spiritual changes and realizing the power of the resurrection of Jesus. Each city area is asked to pray on particular days of the week.
