Christ is risen indeed

This day joyful congratulations and wishes filled with a special meaning were heard everywhere. It was not a tribute to a certain senseless tradition — we recall the event that happened hundreds years ago, but which is still relevant. It was the resurrection of Christ, the Savior of the world — He won sin and death and gave forgiveness to everybody who lived and will be living on earth due to His deed.

On 4 April the whole world celebrated Easter — the resurrection of Christ. This day the church “Philadelphia” also had a festive meeting.

After the worship and prayer preparing the hearts to a special time of worship and praising the Lord for His death, the main festive part started. The psalms accompanied by dances and hand singing of the deaf mute alternated with touching poems. The youth theatre ministry prepared a wonderful sketch about Jesus who loves people so much that is ready to protect them from all devilish passions that oppress and destroy God’s creations. Just one call for help from a person — and the Lord is here. This sketch moved many people so deeply that they had tears in their eyes. Probably many of them recognized in the hero of the sketch themselves and recalled how Jesus had saved them.

Senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov talked about the meaning of resurrection. We all know that having sinned Adam and Eve opened “Pandora’s box”. With the first sin many disasters came to earth bringing suffering and pain. Though, in spite of people turning away from Him, God made the first step to reconciliation. The sacrifice was Jesus: “…that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men's sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:19). God has forgiven us but many people still can't accept this. It’s useless to try to earn something that God has already given us. We hear the phrase “Christ is risen indeed”, but is man ready to hear the words of reconciliation? It’s time we bowed down before God!
