God deserves the best

On 3 January there was the first meeting of the church “Philadelphia”. The main thing for man is relationship with God. This was the topic of Alexander Razuvaj’s sermon. He reminded a well-known saying of Jesus about two ways, one of which is wide but leads to the hell, and the second one that is narrow and difficult but leads to eternity. Talking to a rich young man who wanted to know how to enter the Heavenly kingdom, Jesus pointed out that he should obey the law and listed the commandments about relationships with people. Still the main problem with that man was that his wealth was number 1 for him. He didn’t have any space for God in his heart. On the contrary Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, had space for God in his seeking heart. He accepted Jesus and made amends to those whom he insulted. Relationship with God is the most important thing in our life.

Senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov talked about deference. The world in sin forgets about deference to the older, to parents. Though people often honour people above them in status but neglect God. God used prophet Malahi to rebuke Hebrews for their sacrificing the sick and limp. But God reserves the best. We shouldn’t make up excuses in the lines “I am a human, I am not perfect”, shift our guilt onto our imperfect character. We are perfect for our level of spiritual development. It means that we should keep on growing up and do for God what He has called us to do. Psalm 2 says: “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for His wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in Him”. God is more than just worthy of our deference.
