The service of August 22nd started with the testimony about a trip to Kirshonki village in Balezino region. Maxim Timkov spoke about the necessity of Christ in villages, faraway from big cities. It was quite sad that all young people in this village are alcohol addicted. Nevertheless, the people listen to the Gospel willingly and want to see us again. The senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov underlined that now these people need someone who would raise them spiritually. He addressed the church with the call to answer God’s appeal.

Alexander Rozuvai was speaking of baptizing by the Holy Spirit and of how His gifts are revealed, namely, speaking in tongues. Apostle Paul was not among the 12 chosen by Jesus though, spoke in tongues more than all of them (1 Cor. 14:18). This gift has a few features. Firstly, speaking in tongues serves to edify some certain people. Through a prayer in tongues God can speak to another person who understands this tongue. Secondly, a prayer in tongues can contain a prophecy. If a speaking in tongues person or other Christians have a gift of interpretation, then a prayer may serve to edify a church. That is why Paul calls upon to pray for an interpretation gift (1 Cor. 14:13). Thirdly, the tongues are the language of the Spirit wherein the mysteries of the Heavens are revealed.

Pavel Zhelnovakov reminded us of love. We can easily check ourselves for presence of love in our heart when we recall Jesus Christ’s words: whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me (John 14:21). Main commandments are not so many. To approach God, we should start to obey at least Ten Commandments of Moses. Commandments given by God have no ambiguity. If God says in his Word that “all wrongdoing is sin”, that means ALL and that’s it. “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself”, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation”. Whoever does not obey Christ’s commandments, withdraws from God. And whoever does not have love, hatred is in him.
