Renewal ministry

An unusual ministry took place in Philadelphia church on April, 25th. This was the time for prayer and spiritual renewal for all who need it.

In his brief sermon the senior pastor Pavel Zhelnovakov suggested to look at the Hebrew people’s destiny like at images for us. In his history, Israel went through certain periods when God influenced his destiny in a special dramatic way. Those were the times of God’s visit to His people. At that time the Hebrew felt huge blessings, but over time they forgot about them plunging into idolatry and lewdness.

The next God’s visit to Israel was the appearance of Son of God Jesus Christ. Nevertheless the people did not recognize Him. As it is written about Jesus in Luke 19:41-44: “As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace — but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you”. Jesus wept over Jerusalem. Just a few decades later the city was destroyed by the Romans and the temple was burnt down, because it did not serve as a house of prayer, but became “a den of robbers”, as Jesus called it driving traders out of there. We need to endeavour not to miss the time of God’s visit, try to be open for Him, so that He could be able to correct those things in us which He does not like. We should look into our own “temple” — our heart: is it indeed a temple of living God or a den of robbers?

The rest of the time was devoted to musical worship and standing before God in prayer. The people who needed spiritual renewal and their sins to be forgiven stepped forward and ministers prayed for them.
